Born and raised in sunny Orange County, C. A. Growing up in the mid 80's I spent most of my childhood in front of a TV playing video games. Then as I grew into my teens I progressed from hanging out in the bedroom to jamming on my guitar in the garage. Staying indoors and in one place for long periods of time is like second nature to me. It does not take a brain surgeon or a psychologist to figure out that Web Development would be a prime career choice for me.
Journey into the WebA few years after high school I landed a great job as a Customer Service Manager for a small import company. My task was pretty basic... answer phone calls and ship out replacements parts. However as the company grew so did the number of customer service calls, the complexity of each issue, and the number of items that needed to be shipped out. This provided me with the opportunity to figure out how to manage large amounts of customer information.
It was then that I began studying Database Management Systems. With the help of MS Access I was able to build a custom database system and provide a quick way to insert and view all of our customer's orders and information. Over the course of several years I learned how to integrate our database system with FedEx Workstation to automate our shipping labels and provide tracking numbers through our web site. In the course of three years we went from shipping 40 products out in a single day to shipping over 300 in a single hour. In addition to that I also found ways to speed up our customer service calls by providing frequently asked questions and instruction manuals online.
The whole experience inspired me to pursue a career in Web Development. I was positive that other small companies could also benefit from my skills. It was during that time I decided to dedicate my life toward studying the art of Form and Function and how it can be applied on the Web. So I took what one might perceive as the most logical step... Signed up for College.
Four years later and I am happy to say that I have a degree in Visual Communications. I enjoy what I do and look forward to meeting new clients ( perhaps you? :).
And that concludes my journey into the web.
Best Regards,
Isaac Eric Gonzalez
