Their might a be a couple of bugs when clicking on a tag but for the most part it's working. Eventually I plan on linking the colors to various web templates and also post my PHP Class files.
The right combinationWhen designing a website choosing the right colors can be a painfully long task. Even after you find the perfect color combination it could be just as difficult learning how to apply them to your design. If you ever studied the psychology of color then you know why choosing the right combination is so important. Here's what one designer/blogger had to say about it - Veerle.
Ever since my early days in college while studying graphic design I have been a huge fan using color scheme books. When ever I begin a design I immediately turn to them for inspiration and guidance. A couple of years ago Adobe created an online tool that allow others to share and browse color schemes over the internet - Adobe's Kuler Tools. It is a great tool and I use it frequently.
Kuler uses a Flash Interface and at times tends to get a little buggy on my iMac G5. In addition to that I really only use about 10% of all it's features. To sum it up - I search, browse, and immediately start collecting HEX values. Another issue I have with the Kuler tool is that my mouse will not always copy the the HEX values from the interface. I usually have to open up textedit and manually type them in.
So today I finally took the opportunity and watched Lee's Brimlow video tutorial on using Adobe Kuler API with Flash. The project inspired me to try something similiar but in PHP. Next thing I know the Online Color Scheme Explorer For Web Designers was created.
